Mobile View - - Updated Aug 25, 2011

Explore our new Mobile View for iOS 3.0+ and Android 2.2+ devices on our family web sites. Google Sites also added mobile versions of the site list, sites search, and browse sites categories. We will update three family group web
sites (read more here) within the next thirty days. Google Sites doesn't offer Mobile editing yet; however, here are a few of the features in this Google Sites update:
  • Horizontal Menu now works with touch screens
  • Sidebar can expand and collapse (pop-in and pop-out), which automatically collapses in portrait viewing mode and expands in landscape mode
  • All the System Footer links, apart from "powered by Google Sites" disappear to give more vertical space and avoid wrapping.
When you add content to our web sites, you might like to preview the appearance of a web page in the new Mobile View. Here's the steps for Google Sites:
  • Go to Top-Right "More actions" under the Google horizontal Google bar
  • From Page actions drop-down, select "Preview page as viewer"
  • From the next screen opening in a new Tab, choose either "Mobile" or "Desktop"
  • When finished, close Tab
Where Mobile View is not enabled on the web site, you will automatically preview Desktop view.

Starting August 25, 2011, and when you activate Google Sites new look, you will instead see icons and More. You'll enjoy a seamless transition from desktop to mobile.
